If you have problems using StageRace on newer versions of Windows, consider trying the following solutions.

StageRace was built as 32-bit Windows application, and was first released for Windows 2000. Over the course of fifteen years of StageRace versions, it has withstood a big number of Windows updates. In the last few Windows versions some libraries are missing that were previously shipped with Windows by default. This page is an ongoing report on these issues and what the solutions are that you can try.

Update StageRace

Update StageRace to at least version V3.24 - 2005.3.24, which has some updated DLL dependencies.

Install Visual C++ Redistributable Package (x86)

This is necessary when you see the following error:

The program can't start because mfc100u.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). Make sure to install the x86 version of this package, as StageRace was built as 32-bit application.

Install Hardware Key Drivers

This is necessary when StageRace has problems recognizing the hardware key. A nominal hardware key driver is included in StageRace distributions, but depending on your Windows version an alternative version may work better.

Install an alternative version of the hardware key drivers.

We hope that these solutions are helpful. If you find anything else, let us know, and we'll add to this post.
